Google Drive has been offering a built-in document scanner on its Android version. Google recently redesigned the user interface of the document scanner feature on the Android version. Now, Google has updated the Drive app on iOS to include the built-in document scanner feature for the first time.
Drive document scanner comes to iPhone and iPad
According to the report by 9to5Google, Drive app on iPhone and iPad has received a new update that now includes a built-in document scanner that allows users to quickly scan a document, store and also share it with others.
Google Drive app on iOS now has a new camera Floating Action Button (FAB) placed just above the Plus (+) button at the bottom right corner. As soon as you do that, it will launch a camera interface, basically a viewfinder that can automatically scan the document in the front. There’s a manual capture option available as well as the bottom that looks like the camera shutter button.
The viewfinder also shows guidelines which help users position the camera perfectly for a better overall scan and get the highest possible quality. It also supports back-to-back scans for multi-page documents.
Once captured, there are plenty of editing options available as well. This includes crop, rotate, and filters (colour, grayscale, black and white and photo).
There’s the Save button that stores the captured document in the Drive.
It is to be noted that the built-in scanner feature is rolling out with Google Drive for iPhone and iPad version 4.2023.46227. It will be available for all types of Google accounts, including workspace as well as personal accounts.
