NEW DELHI: The government expects to disburse Rs 13,000 crore under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme this year, amid a major push to boost local manufacturing. The projection indicates more than a four-fold rise from the Rs 2,900 crore that the government has already disbursed.
“We have already generated through the PLI schemes sales of over Rs 6 lakh crore and employment of around 4 lakh. Exports also is a big success mainly due to the mobile sector,” DPIIT secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said. Sectors like medical devices, pharma, white goods, electronics and food processing have picked up well under the PLI scheme, Singh said.
