NEW DELHI/BENGALURU: Bengaluru Police reported on Wednesday the arrest of a 52-year-old man who stands accused of sexually harassing a female passenger during a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Bengaluru.
The purported incident occurred on November 6, while the 32-year-old woman, originally from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, was asleep, according to authorities.
As she was sleeping, the man seated next to her allegedly touched her private parts and engaged in inappropriate behavior.
Subsequently, she summoned a flight attendant and requested a seat change due to ongoing harassment by the man throughout the journey.
Upon the flight’s arrival in Bengaluru, the woman lodged a complaint against the man at the Kempegowda International Airport Police Station.
Consequently, a case was registered under section 354 A (Sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code, as confirmed by a senior police officer.
“The man was arrested and subsequently presented before the court. However, he was later granted bail,” he stated.
