Billionaire Elon Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that the COVID vaccine almost landed him at the hospital. Sharing a video, from another X user, the SpaceX founder has questioned the effectiveness of the vaccine. “Have you heard disinformation?” he has captioned the video.
In a series of tweets, the Tesla founder talks about the claims around the efficacy of the vaccine and the immunity it offers.”I think efficacy changes are a result of new strains and the vaccine immunity wearing off. It’s stupid anyone ever claimed it was 100% effective. No vaccine is 100% full-proof,” Elon Musk has tweeted.

He also mentions an incident where he was almost sent to the hospital due to the COVID-19 vaccine. “As for myself, I got original Covid before the vaccine was out (mild cold symptoms) and had to get three vaccines for travel. The third shot almost sent me to hospital,” he has tweeted. However, he did not mention the symptoms experienced after taking COVID vaccine.

“I do believe in vaccines”
He tweets: “It’s not like I don’t believe in vaccines – I do. However, the cure cannot be potentially worse than the disease. And public debate over efficacy should not be shut down. There is also great potential for curing many diseases using synthetic mRNA, so let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water.”

We would not have done so. I would rather go to prison than fire good people who didn’t want to be jabbed,” he tweets.

Side effects of COVID vaccine
Mild side effects of COVID vaccine have been reported by the World Health Organisation (WHO). “Some people will experience mild side effects after being vaccinated against COVID-19. Common side effects of COVID-19 vaccines include fever, head or body aches, and a sore arm. These symptoms usually go away within a day or two and, if needed, can be managed by getting some rest, drinking fluids, or taking pain-relieving medications,” the WHO says.

However, there are reports of severe side effects like heart attacks associated with COVID. The incidence of myocarditis pre-COVID was reported at 1 to 10 cases/100 000 individuals and with COVID ranging from 150 to 4000 cases/100 000 individuals, a recent study published in Circulation Research journal has found. “Importantly, the findings highlight that myocarditis occurs predominantly in male patients aged 12 to 40 years regardless of whether the cause was due to a virus-like SARS-CoV-2 or associated with a vaccine,” it added.
