Elon Musk: What X CEO Linda Yaccarino has to say on Elon Musk’s ‘go f**k yourselves’ comment

Elon Musk used profanity to send a message to all brands who have paused advertising on X. “Go f**k yourself,” he said at The New York Times Dealbook Summit, dubbing these pauses “blackmail” by advertisers. His comments made it to the morning story of several media houses and seemingly prompted the company CEO Linda Yaccarino to have a say on the “candid interview”.
“Today Elon Musk gave a wide ranging and candid interview at @dealbook 2023. He also offered an apology, an explanation and an explicit point of view about our position,” Yaccarino said in a post on X.
She said that the platform allows users to exchange information that makes some people uncomfortable and that X is a “platform that allows people to make their own decisions.”
“And here’s my perspective when it comes to advertising: X is standing at a unique and amazing intersection of Free Speech and Main Street — and the X community is powerful and is here to welcome you. To our partners who believe in our meaningful work — Thank You,” she said defending the company’s free speech stand.

What Musk said on advertiser fleeing X
Things took a ‘wrong’ turn for X after Musk commented, “the actual truth” on a post which claimed that Jewish people have a “dialectical hatred” of white people.
Following this, reports started to pour in claiming that companies, including Apple, IBM, Disney, Comcast, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Paramount and Warner Bros, stopped advertising on the platform.
Musk also apologised for the ‘endorsement’ of the antisemitic post by saying that it was “perhaps one of the most foolish, if not the most foolish thing I’ve ever done on the platform.” He also said that he was “quite sorry”.
Advertising is X’s main source of revenue and recently, a report by The New York Times claimed that up to $75 million of advertising spending through the end of the year could be at risk due to the boycott by companies.
