NEW DELHI: Nearly 170 people have been put on no fly list in the last two years for unruly onboard behaviour. Union minister of state for aviation, Gen V K Singh (retd), said in Rajya Sabha on Monday that “166 passengers were put on the ‘no fly list’ from 2021 to August 2023 and banned from taking flights within India for a specific time period for their unruly behavior. Moreover, different airlines logged 18,016 complaints between 2020 and August 2023.”

Responding to a query by BJP MP Sushil Kumar Modi on fleet size, the minister said: “The number of aircrafts in India increased from 395 in 2014 to 729 in 2023. It is further expected that within seven years, the total fleet size of the domestic airlines in the country would be nearly 1,600.”
“The number of passengers travelled domestically increased from 5.3 crore in 2020-21 to 8.4 crore in 2021-22 to 13.6 crore in 2022-23 and 35,89,193 in 2023-24 till June 2023. The percentage of flights that were cancelled from January 2023 to June 2023 was 0.58%,” the minister added.
