While he plays the role of a baddie, Arjun spoke to ETimes TV about how he feels to be a part of the big league, working with the lead actors and also the viral fight scene.
On being a part of the Bollywood film, Arjun said, “It feels amazing to be a part of such a big film, which has already crossed Rs 100 crores. It’s a big association for me with Sajid Nadiadwala and such a hit jodi in the industry. It’s a pleasure for me to be a part of this film.”
“I got a call from the casting team. I had auditioned for Ek Villain 2, for an important part. But that didn’t work out. My name was there in the data of the casting team. I got a call from the team asking if I would be up to play Kiara’s boyfriend in the film. I was like there’s no question to ask. I was sent a brief of my character. So that’s how the role of Tapan happened to me,” Arjun said about how he bagged the film.
Arjun got to play Kiara’s boyfriend and about his work experience with one of the leading ladies of Bollywood, he said, “I had a fan moment for Kiara already ever since I watched Kabir Singh. She has that elegance and simplicity in her. I was paired opposite to her as a bad boy image, as her boyfriend, it was a very special part for me. She also made it very comfortable for me. I am getting into the field of making it big in the industry and these guys are already there and she didn’t make me feel like that. She was very friendly, warm and open for conversations. It was a fantastic experience.”
“Kiara and I were introduced before we started shoot. There was a scene of her kissing me on the forehead. So there is always the need to break that awkwardness. Then we happened to talk.”
Arjun also spoke about the viral fight scene between Sattu and Tapan. He said, “The beauty of the moment is that, that the audience is liking the scene now, but the audience, who were present during the shoot, had already loved it back then. Kartik and I had discussed how we would improvise the scenes. And everytime we performed that scene, everyone clapped. The chemistry Kartik and I held the scene, were commendable. We did 6-7 takes and everyone loved it. The character of Tapan was built up and people felt that bashing was required and I am happy that scene went viral.”
Arjun also felt a little disappointed as some of his scenes were cut short on the editing table and said, “It is totally the makers’ call and in a film such things happen. This has given me a lot of confidence for taking up bigger projects in future.”
