Exclusive! Katha Ankahee’s Aditi Sharma on audience’s reaction: Fans have messaged me and the unit that they aren’t liking the track

Katha Ankahee recently took an 8-month leap and brought in a new storyline. Though Katha and Viaan’s story stays intact, the show adds new characters and tracks. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, Katha aka Aditi Sharma got candid about how the audience reacted to the leap, Katha’s perspective and more.

I have received messages from fans saying they don’t like the track

It was wonderful receiving all the love.I think it depends on the track that is on. I understand right now a lot of people are not liking the track. Sending direct messages to me and everybody in the unit and saying that they are not liking the show and all. I would just say that this is after all atelevision show, we as actors, the writers, all of us are trying to bring something new keeping the essence of Katha Ankahee intact. I think they would like it just to have a little more patience for the track to unfold and see what we have in store. This isn’t real life, it is a TV show so some drama or something has to happen for it to go on.

Katha Ankahee has a similar essence to Pakistani shows

I feel very fortunate that I am doing this show, to be honest. We had a wonderful director, and the producers have supported us so much. The channel and everything have a major input in a show and also I have wonderful co-actors. I am very fortunate to be a part of the show. As an actor when you are offered shows you cannot say how to make it. As an audience, I love Katha Ankahee, it has a similar essence to Pakistani shows. People who watch it can relate. I have garnered so much love and it feels fantastic. I feel very blessed that I got the show.

We don’t want to do typical drama

Talking about the leap, there is a reason behind it as the makers wanted to add new freshness to the show. We don’t want to do typical drama, let’s do something else. We are trying it. Let’s see how the audience will react to it.

Katha’s first priority is Aarav

When in someone’s life a huge incident occurs then the person changes with time. With Katha, when her child is in a problem she will not compromise over her son’s needs. A mother always keeps her child’s needs first, she will compromise her needs but will make sure that her child gets the best. Katha has taken a stand that her first priority is Aarav above anything.

I really like women-oriented shows like Ganga and Silsila

It is very difficult to choose from the recent shows. But if you see, I have done shows called Ganga and Silsila. I really like women-oriented shows, I even like to watch them. Where the woman is strong. I don’t like shows where the woman is shown as a bechari. We shouldn’t make such shows I feel as the masses are viewing TV and absorbing the content.

Why have we stopped making shows like Shaanti and Arth Viram

Earlier there used to be a show Arth Viram which had Pallavi Joshi in it. Then there was a show called Shaanti. I would love to do such characters. I really wish those shows would come back. I don’t know why we have stopped making such good shows.

Doing Katha, I felt like we were making something very good

Doing Katha I felt we were making something very good. Initially, for a couple of months we had such a strong storyline. We began with the belief that we don’t know how the audience would react but what we have planned we will do only with full honesty. Even the makers and channel were extremely supportive of going with the fresh storyline. I believe if you do something with honesty then people will always love it.
