AHMEDABAD: A 27-year-old Bulgarian flight attendant has approached the Gujarat HC complaining that state police are not registering an FIR accusing the CMD of a local pharmaceutical company of rape and harassment.
The woman has also sought directives to secure digital evidence to establish the police coerced her to compromise earlier in the case. The HC is scheduled to hear the matter on December 4.
The woman has said in her plea that she was hired as a flight attendant by the pharma group for its CMD in November 2022.She shifted to India and started living at the company’s facility on the outskirts of the city. After a few trips with the CMD, she was tipped to work as his personal assistant, and she assumed the new role in February 2023.She claimed she was then sexually assaulted and approached the police. When her complaint was not acted upon, she moved a local magisterial court, which rejected her plea citing police reports about the alleged compromise. “We have also urged the HC to direct the police to furnish CCTV footage of Vastrapur police station where my client was forced to sign the affidavit. We want to establish that the police have been shielding the businessman,” her advocate Rajesh Kumar Mishra told TOI.
The magisterial court had noted that the lady had lodged a complaint earlier with a women’s police station but tendered an affidavit to the cops on April 20 saying she had settled the dispute.
The magisterial court referred to a report from JB Agrawat, inspector of Sola High Court police station, saying the woman had made multiple complaints against her boss in May but did not turn up to record her statement. Therefore, her complaint was closed. The woman then approached the high court last month.
