PUNE: Flying Wedge Defense and Aerospace, has announced that the company has become the first-ever entity to secure DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) Type Certification for indigenous Unmanned Aircraft technology, its officials said.
Under the regulatory framework established by the DGCA, no drone, aircraft, or aeroplane can operate in India without DGCA-type certification. This stringent certification process is a vital step in ensuring the safety and reliability of unmanned aircraft within the country.Till now, only a few companies have successfully obtained DGCA-type certification within this sector. A noteworthy aspect is that a significant portion of these certified entities have obtained their technology through Transfer of Technology agreements with companies based in China. Flying Wedge Defense and Aerospace, however, has set itself apart by achieving DGCA-type certification based on truly indigenous technology. This accomplishment highlights the company’s commitment to self-reliance, innovation, and a mission to advance India’s standing in the global aerospace industry, officials added.
“We are really proud that finally India has an Indigenous flying object which is air worthy. India has always been dependent on imported technology/products. We don’t want any company in India to go through what Go Airways have undergone. Now all my fellow drone companies in India can have an uninterrupted supply from us and need not worry about China holding back the inventory. I would love to see all these companies like partners in the ecosystem rather than competitors. We will continue our investments and work in Research & Development with double energy now. We shall also focus on how to increase the living standards of farmers in India,” Sujas Tejaskanda, the company CEO said.
