NEW DELHI: At least two houses were torched in Manipur’s Imphal West district on Wednesday night in a fresh outbreak of violence.
Several rounds were also fired in the incident which happened at around 10pm the previous night in New Keithelmanbi area.
While the accused were able to flee the spot, the incident triggered tension in the area.
Security forces and fire services personnel brought the blaze under control.
A mob of women who gathered in the area following the incident was prevented by the security forces from proceeding further.
Additional security has been deployed and the situation is under control, according to a police official.
