It has been almost four years since Samsung launched its foldables — Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. Every year, the company made enough changes to make the folables better in every possible way. Now, the company is about to show off its latest generation foldable phones likely to be named Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26 along with next-generation tablets and smartwatches.
Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 will be thinner and lighter
TM Roh, the head of MX Business, Samsung, has dropped a teaser confirming some key design upgrades about the ucoming foldable phones, ahead of the official launch. According to the teaser, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy ZFlip5 will be both thinner and lighter compared to the previous generation.
Explaining the entire thinner and lighter nature of the upcoming foldable phones, Roh explained that “the act of folding and unfolding a smartphone. It seems simple. However, that simplicity users feel is only achieved through a rigorous focus on what is most essential and intuitive”.
He further mentioned that in the world of foldable phones Samsung has “raised the standards”. He mentioned that “every gram and millimeter in a foldable device requires an engineering breakthrough”. He mentioned that the upcoming foldable phones — Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 will be “slimmer and lighter than our previous generations”.
“We’ve raised the standards for foldable smartphone ergonomics. A difference of millimeter in a device’s thickness may not sound like a big change, but every gram and millimeter in a foldable device requires an engineering breakthrough. It demands craftsmanship with passion. When done well, the benefit to users is huge. That’s why we’ve innovated to make our latest foldables slimmer and lighter than our previous generations”.
For those unaware, Samsung is set to hold the 2nd biggest event of the year where the company is slated to unveil the next-genration foldable phones, Galaxy Tab S9 series and Galaxy Watch 6 series.
