Google is giving users more control over search results about them

Google is rolling out new updates to its Search to help users keep control over their personal information, privacy, and online safety. The search giant is updating the “results about you” tool to help users effortlessly discover and eliminate search results related to themselves.

The “results about you” dashboard, which will be available on both mobile and the web, will allow users to easily access their personal information on Google without searching for it manually. The dashboard will automatically retrieve relevant websites and pages containing matches by providing your details. You can then review each web page and request removal if necessary.
To access this tool in the Google app, click on your Google account photo and select the option “Results about you.” This tool is currently only available in English for users in the United States. However, Google says that it is actively working on expanding its availability to more locations and languages in the near future.

Google now removes consensual explicit images upon user request, not just non-consensual ones. If you need to remove explicit content of yourself from search results, search for “request removals” in the Google help centre.
Users will also have the option to receive push notifications that will notify them of any new search results. Additionally, users can monitor removal requests from Google’s hub, which displays the status of their requests, such as in-progress, approved, denied, and undone.
Google now blurs explicit images, including adult and violent content, by default in search results with SafeSearch, available globally. If a guardian or school network administrator locks the user settings, those users cannot turn the SafeSearch off. However, users can adjust their settings anytime if it is not locked.
Additionally, locating parental control options directly within the Search function is now simpler. To find parental controls, enter a relevant search term such as “Google parental controls” or “Google family link,” a box containing instructions for managing parental controls will appear.
