NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the forthcoming special session of Parliament will witness “historic decisions”. The five-day special session of Parliament commenced at 11 am today.
The Prime Minister also urged all the members to contribute effectively in this session, leaving old problems behind and bringing new goods to this new house.
Here are key quotes from PM’s speech-
“At this time, we all are feeling an atmosphere of enthusiasm and a new confidence in the entire country. At the same time, this session of Parliament is taking place.”
“This session is short, but in terms of time, it is very big. This is a session of historic decisions. A speciality of this session is that the journey of 75 years is starting from a new destination.”
“Now, while taking forward the journey from a new place, we have to make the country a developed country by 2047. For this, all the decisions will be taken in the new Parliament building.”
“Old Parliament building will keep inspiring future generations.”
“India’s power ensured consensus on G20 declaration.”
“G20 summit success is that of entire country, not of one person alone or one party.”
“Emotional moment to bid goodbye to this building; many bitter-sweet memories have been associated with it.”
“I once again congratulate our scientists and praise them (for the success of Chandrayaan-3).”
“When I first entered this building as member, I never imagined that I will get so much love from people.”
“The success of the G20 is of 140 crore Indians, it is the success of Bharat. It is not a success of an individual or a political party.”
“Number of women MPs may have been low earlier, but gradually their representation, contribution increasing.”
“Many people have a tendency of being suspicious about India, and this has continued since Independence. This time too (referring to the G20), they were confident that there will be no declaration. However, it is India’s strength that it happened.”
“There have been sweet and sour experiences, there has also been an atmosphere of bickering, and sometimes an atmosphere of conflict and sometimes, there has been an atmosphere of joy as well. All these memories are our shared memories, our shared heritage and hence, its pride is also our shared.”
“It is this august house that has seen active contribution from members aged 25 as well as those aged 93.”
“Post-Independence, many expressed doubts about country’s success; but the power of this Parliament proved naysayers wrong.”
“Biggest achievement of 75 years of this House is the ever-growing trust of the people in Parliament.”
“PM Modi lauds contribution of chamber attendants and House officials in ensuring smooth functioning of Parliament.”
“When this Parliament lost three serving PMs — Nehru ji, Shastri ji and Indira ji — they were given fitting tribute.”
“From Nehru to Shastri to Vajpayee, this Parliament has seen several leaders presenting their vision of India.”
