Hrangturzo Assembly Election Result 2023: The counting of votes in the Hrangturzo assembly election commenced at 8 am, with early trends expected shortly thereafter. In the previous Mizoram Assembly election, the Mizo National Front (MNF) emerged victorious in the Hrangturzo seat.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Lalmalsawma, while the Indian National Congress (INC) has put forward Lalroengaas its candidate.MNF’sLalremruata Chhangte and Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM)’s Lalmuanpuia Punte are also contenders in the fray. In the 2018 election, Lalchamliana of MNF secured victory in the Hrangturzo (ST) seat with 4572 votes, with Vanlalawmpuii Chawngthu of INC trailing in second place with 3815 votes.

This year’s voter turnout in Hrangturzo stands at 18.17%, a significant decrease from the 2018 turnout of 82.37%. Following the polling day, votes are recorded in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), stored in a designated room, and retrieved on the counting day. The counting process begins with the tabulation of postal ballots, followed by the counting of votes from EVMs.
Looking back at the 2018 election, MNF secured 27 out of Mizoram’s 40 seats, while Congress came in second with 4 seats. As the counting unfolds, the question remains whether the political landscape in Mizoram will witness a change.
In the Hrangturzo constituency, INC’s Lalroenga is currently leading against ZPM’s Lalmuanpuia Punte as the votes are being counted. The results will determine the outcome for these candidates.
About Hrangturzo Assembly Constituency
Hrangturzo is an assembly constituency that comes under Serchhip district of Mizoram State. In 2018, this constituency was won by the Mizo National Front’s Lalchamliana won the seat by defeating Vanlalawmpuii Chawngthu of the Indian National Congress with a margin of 757 votes.
