Instagram‘s Twitter – now X – competitor Threads is getting two new features. The Meta-owned company is now rolling out an option for a chronological feed and translations. Along with these major features, the company is also releasing additional updates “to improve people’s experience.”

“Threads started rolling out an option for a chronological feed of only people you’re following and added translations too. More to come,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on his Instagram Channel.
Following and For You feed

Threads users will now be able to view posts from other profiles on their feeds in two ways: Following and For You.
For You feed will show users a mix of posts from profiles that they have chosen to follow and recommended accounts, on their Threads feed.
If users choose the ‘Following’ option, they will only be shown posts from people they follow in chronological order.
Translations on Threads
Threads is also getting translation capability. Threads posts in feed will now be translated automatically based on the language they are written in and the language settings of the person viewing it.
“If you see a thread in a different language, and your language is available as a translation, you can tap the translation button at the bottom right of the post or reply to see it,” the company said.
Instagram head announces additional features
Soon after Zuckerberg announced these major updates, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced other features.
Users will now have new categories to sort their Activity feed so they can filter by Follows, Quotes and Reposts. Threads is also getting a ‘Follow’ button on the followers list that will enable them to easily follow other accounts back.
The third feature is the ability to quickly approve new followers if your account is private. Users can use this option to batch “approve all” follow requests in one go.
“We heard your feedback and are rolling out some updates to Threads starting today. This is just the beginning. Thanks for the feedback as always – please keep sending through as we make even more updates to improve your experience on this app,” he said.
