As the clock hits 10.30 tonight, iPadOS 17 will be available for iPad users to download. Apple has introduced a host of new features that iPad users will look forward to. We pick the top 5 features to look out for in iPadOS 17:

Redesigned Lock Screen

One of the biggest changes in iPadOS 17 is the redesigned Lock Screen. The new Lock Screen is more customisable than ever before, allowing you to add widgets, change the font and colour of the time and date, and even add a background image.
To customise the Lock Screen, simply swipe down on the Lock Screen to access the notification centre. Then, tap the Edit button in the top-right corner. From here, you can add, remove, and rearrange widgets, change the font and colour of the time and date, and add a background image.

Interactive widgets

Another new feature in iPadOS 17 is interactive widgets. Interactive widgets allow you to take action directly from the Lock Screen or Home Screen. For example, you can use an interactive widget to play music, control your smart home devices, or even check your calendar.
To use an interactive widget, simply tap and hold on the widget. This will open a menu of options that you can choose from. For example, if you have an interactive music widget, you can tap and hold on the widget to play, pause, or skip tracks.

New features in Messages

The Messages app is getting a significant update in iPadOS 17. The new Messages experience includes a new stickers experience, the ability to leave FaceTime video and audio messages, and more.
The new stickers experience allows you to create and share your own custom stickers. To create a sticker, simply tap the sticker icon in the Messages app and then tap the Create New Sticker button. From here, you can draw, write, or even add photos to your sticker.
The new Messages experience also allows you to leave FaceTime video and audio messages. To leave a FaceTime message, simply tap the video or audio button in the Messages app and then tap the Leave Message button. From here, you can record a video or audio message to send to your recipient.

Health app

The Health app is coming to the iPad for the first time in iPadOS 17. The Health app will allow you to track and manage your health data on the iPad, including your steps, calories burned, heart rate, and sleep.
To use the Health app, simply open the app and tap on the My Health tab. From here, you can see your health data for the day, week, month, or year. You can also add new health data, such as your weight, blood pressure, or glucose levels.

Stage Manager

Stage Manager is a multitasking feature, which gets further updates in iPadOS 17. Stage Manager allows you to open multiple windows and apps at the same time and easily switch between them.
To use Stage Manager, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen with three fingers. This will open a window that shows all of your open windows and apps. You can then drag and drop windows to resize and rearrange them. You can also tap on a window to bring it to the front.
