Iphone: iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max: First impressions

The shiny, glitzy new iPhones are in town as Apple took the wraps off them at an event in Cupertino. The Pro models of the iPhone 15 series have a lot going for them — new design frame, better cameras, super fast processor and much more. We got a chance to get our hands on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max for a short while and here are our early impressions:

Design and display

The iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max have a similar design to the iPhone 14 Pro models. At least that’s what one would say from a distance. Come closer and you can see that the iPhone 15 Pro variants have a titanium frame instead of stainless steel. The titanium frame is stronger and more durable than stainless steel, and it also feels more premium. It is rare to find a phone that looks good in all colours. The titanium frame and look does that to the iPhone 15 Pro models. The iPhone 15 Pro models are also slightly lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro models, thanks to the titanium frame. We ended up comparing the two side by side and the weight is less but not that much either. The in-hand feel is comfortable and you are sure to get less fingerprint and smudges on these phones.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display with a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The iPhone 15 Pro, on the other hand, has 6.1-inch display with similar specs.The display is incredibly sharp and clear, and the variable refresh rate makes it smooth and responsive.

Camera, processor

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a triple-lens rear camera system with a 48-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom. On the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the optical zoom is restricted to 3x. And that’s the premium one pays for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. We didn’t really get a chance to test the cameras but the little we saw was impressive. Apple has put in a lot of software-related features to ensure that the iPhone 15 Pros offer a versatile camera experience.
The iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max are powered by the A17Pro chip, which is the fastest chip in a smartphone. The A17 Pro chip is expected to make the iPhone 15 Pro Max incredibly fast and responsive, even when running demanding apps and games. If Apple’s track record is to go by — and almost every iPhone user can vouch for that — the iPhone 15 Pro models will deliver excellent performance. The limited time we spent with the phones, the apps opened rapidly and it felt really smooth.

What we think

The iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro are impressive phones with a lot to offer. You get a sleek design, a powerful chip, an improved camera system and the best of Apple has to offer.
