Iphone: iPhone users can now share original quality photos and videos via WhatsApp, here’s how

[ad_1]

WhatsApp has recently updated its app to support HD photo and video sharing. That said, Android users have been able to share original quality photos and videos using the “Document” option. However, that wasn’t the case with iPhone users.
WhatsApp app for iOS did not allow users to share photos and videos as documents or in the original quality.
That has changed now and with the latest version of the WhatsApp app, it has finally received the option to share photos and videos without compromising in terms of quality, resolution and size.
Wondering how to share photos and videos in original quality via WhatsApp from your iPhone, here’s our step-by-step guide:
What’s the new feature
Being able to share a file on WhatsApp is not new. Android users have had this feature since a while and they have been using the feature to share photos and videos in original quality via WhatsApp.
The iOS version of the app had the document sharing option, however, it was limited to documents and files only. With the latest update, WhatsApp has now added a dedicated option “Choose Photo or Video” within the “Documents” option that’s placed under the “+” icon on the chat window.
Here’s how you can share photos and videos in original quality via WhatsApp.

  • Update your WhatsApp app from Apple App Store
  • Open the app and head to any chat window
  • Tap on the “+” icon from the bottom left (placed before the text box)
  • Select Documents option and then tap on “Choose Photo or Video” option
  • Then, select the photo or video you want to share
  • Hit send to share it.

Things to keep in mind

  • Since WhatsApp allows users to share files of up to 2GB of size, anything bigger than that can’t be shared.
  • At a time, only one photo or video can be shared. Option to select multiple photos or videos isn’t available.
  • If the file size is big, you may have to wait a little longer for it to upload and the same applies for the receiver in terms of downloading the shared file.
  • Sharing original quality photos can result in higher data consumption for both sender as well as receiver
  • It will also consume more data on the phone’s storage.
