NEW DELHI: Young Indian opener Ishan Kishan continued his sensational run on the Caribbean tour by slamming his third successive half-century in the ODI series against West Indies.

The left-handed Kishan has been the only bright spot in India’s dismal batting performance before this match as he scored 52 and 55 respectively in the first two ODIs.
The 25-year-old Kishan got to his sixth ODI fifty off just 43 balls studded with 5 fours and 2 sixes. In the process he also became the sixth India batter to score half-centuries in all the three matches in bilateral ODI series.

Kishan’s fiery knock finally came to an end on 77 off 64 balls when Yannic Cariah struck to give West Indies a first breakthrough.
He joined the elite list of Kris Srikkanth, Dilip Vengsarkar, Mohammad Azharuddin, MS Dhoni and Shreyas Iyer.
Srikkanth had smashed the three successive fifties against Sri Lanka in 1982 while Vengsarkar and Azharuddin’s achievements also came against Sri Lanka in 1985 and 1993 respectively.

World Cup-winning skipper Dhoni exhibited his batting prowess during the ODI series against Australia in 2019 with three consecutive fifties. Iyer accomplished the same milestone against New Zealand in 2019.
