NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday summoned Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren in connection with alleged money laundering case. The case in which he has been called was not known immediately.

Soren has been asked to depose next week in state capital Ranchi and record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, news agency PTI said quoting official sources.
Last year, the ED had questioned Soren in November for nearly nine and a half hours in connection with an alleged illegal mining case. The agency had then grilled the Jharkhand chief minister after it arrested two of his close aides in connection with the case. The ED had claimed that it has “identified” proceeds of crime relating to illegal stone mining in the state to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore till now.

Soren has accused the BJP of using central agencies to destabilize his government.
