The new Orange Vande Bharat on the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram route in Kerala will be the second train on this route under the Southern Railway zone, but instead of Kotayam it will go through Alappuzha. According to Indian Railways, a second Vande Bharat on the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram route has been introduced due to high occupancy on first train which is above 170% since its launch. The Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high speed train with 160 kmph potential, is an all air-conditioned chair car train service.

While the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat Express has been allotted Train number 20631, the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express is Train number 20632. From Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram the train will take 8 hours and 5 minutes and on the return journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod it will take 7 hours and 50 minutes.
The new batches of Vande Bharat trains with 8 coaches (mini Vande Bharat trains) have 25 improvements over the previous trains. Some of these include; extended foot rest for seats in Executive Chair Car and seats in pleasant blue color, optimization of hardness of cushion, Increase in reclining angle of seats, improved accessibility of mobile charging point under the seats, increase in wash basin depth to avoid splashing of water in toilets etc.
With the launch of the 9 Vande Bharat trains on Sunday, the total number of Vande Bharat services will go to 68.
