NEW DELHI: After losing five-match T20I series 2-3 against West Indies, head coach Rahul Dravid dropped a big hint that injured India stars KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are all set to make a comeback to the Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Dravid said mistakes were made in the T20I series but the primary focus is currently on the ODI format in preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup and the World Cup, which will be hosted at home.

Dravid suggested that some of the players currently recovering from injuries, such as Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul and Iyer, may have the opportunity to participate in the Asia Cup.
However, Bumrah is making a comeback after a long hiatus in the T20 series against Ireland beginning August 18.
“We have a few guys coming back from injuries in any case. We have to give them opportunities to play (in Asia Cup),” Dravid said while talking to the reporters in Lauderhill, Florida.
Dravid further disclosed that India’s potential Asia Cup squad will convene at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru next week to intensify their preparations for the tournament.

This pre-tournament training camp will serve as a crucial opportunity for the players to fine-tune their skills and team cohesion before heading to Sri Lanka to compete in the Asia Cup.
“We have some time off and then will have a camp at the NCA in Bengaluru from August 23. We will be assembling as a one-day team there to prepare for the Asia Cup. We will take it as it comes,” Dravid added.
Team India is slated to begin their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2, with the match scheduled to take place in Pallekele. Following this high-stakes encounter, India will then face Nepal on September 4 as part of their group stage matches.
