Special DG, Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said that joint police teams were working on the case since last three weeks and on Friday they got a whiff of the movement of the accused so started a chase near Inayatnagar. “Anish and his two aides were surrounded and warned to surrender but they opened fire on the police team, in retaliation aides of Anish, Azad and Vishambhar were held but Anish escaped who was later chased and finally killed in exchange of fire with police,” said Kumar.
SSP Ayodhya, Raj Karan Nayyar said that the three accused were into pick pocketing and they were caught red handed by the woman constable soon after they struck at her luggage on the fateful day on board Saryu Express train.
“The woman had slapped one the accused and this infuriated the trio who lunged at her and inflicted upon her cut wounds by blades they used in pickpocketing before fleeing,” said Nayyar.
