MUMBAI: At least seven people have been killed while 40 others suffered injuries after a level-2 fire broke out in a ground plus seven-storey building in Mumbai’s Goregaon West at 3.05am on Friday.
Two of the injured are said to be critical.
A total of 31 injured were rushed to HBT Trauma Hospital and 15 to Cooper Hospital.
According to fire brigade officials, the fire broke out in Jai Bhavani building located on MG Road in Goregaon.
Eight fire engines, five jumbo water tankers, one turn table ladder, and an ambulance were rushed to the spot.
The fire spread through the shops on the ground floor and the vehicles that were parked on the ground floor.
Residents were stranded on various floors and also on the terrace of the building.
The health condition of the injured is awaited. The fire was extinguished by around 6am.
