NEW DELHI: In a significant development, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) panel has approved a proposal to change the way India is referred to in school textbooks. The proposal suggests replacing ‘India’ with ‘Bharat.’
The panel has recommended the adoption of ‘classical history’ nomenclature, replacing ‘ancient history’ in textbooks. The committee’s chairman, C I Issac, elaborated on these adjustments, underlining their significance.
The panel has also put forth a proposal to incorporate the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) into the curriculum for all subjects.
