Nearby Share now lets users share complete folder

Google has updated the Files app and Nearby Share app with folder-sharing support. Android Police has reported that Android users can now share a complete folder between devices (Android, Chromebook and PC) using the Nearby Share feature.

What this means is Android users can now use the wireless sharing feature to transfer folders to other devices without destroying the structure of the folder. But, the important part to note here is that the feature only works with the Files app, the default files manager for Android.
Files app gets a dedicated Nearby Share tab

To seamlessly facilitate this feature, Google has added a new dedicated tab for Nearby Share within the Files app. Using this tab, users can simply select a folder they want to share and transfer the files or folder wirelessly.
Devices that support folder transfer
There’s no limitation as such on what devices will support the folder transfer feature via Nearby Share. But, it is important that the devices support Nearby Share. For instance, the world on Windows 11 PCs. Similarly, it will work between Android phones as well as Android tablets.
The feature may not be all-new
Several reports about Nearby Share folder transfer have also surfaced in the past couple of months. Reports have claimed that the Nearby Share has supported this folder-sharing feature for a while.
It is possible that Google has been testing this feature for a while and now it has started rolling it out to a wider audience.
Steps to share folder using Nearby Share
The first thing you’ll need is the Files app. If you have it, open it, if you don’t then download it from Play Store.
Now, select the folder you want to share. Then, wait for it to detect other nearby devices. Tap on it to share.
