“I demand a high-level inquiry into the food served to Nitish Kumar which, I suspect, is being laced with substances which would make him go insane. There are some people around him who are coveting his chair”, said Manjhi without elaborating further.
On Thursday, Nitish Kumar, who is under fire over his birth control lessons in assembly, had given Manjhi a tongue-lashing when the latter raised doubts over the government’s caste survey.
In a fit of rage, Nitish Kumar said his “stupidity” had led Jitan Ram Manjhi to occupy the highest seat of power in the state. “He keeps saying he too has been a chief minister. He became a chief minister because of my stupidity. Does he have any sense (ye bolta hai ki hum Mukhyamantri the. Meri moorkhta ki vajah se mukhyamantri bana. Isko koi sense hai)”, Kumar screamed, causing commotion in the House.
Jitan Ram Manjhi was earlier with Nitish Kumar’s party the Janata Dal (United) and was made the chief minister of the state when Nitish had stepped down owning responsibility for his party’s debacle in Lok Sabha polls.
Reacting to the incident, Manjhi said: “Nitish Kumar used vulgar language a few days ago which caused him to apologise in both Houses of the legislature. Yesterday he again lost control over himself and spoke to me in an insulting manner, forgetting that I am senior to him in age and political experience. This is a sign of deteriorating mental health.”
Some BJP leaders have also claimed that Nitish Kumar needs a medical examination. “I am feeling embarrassed talking about Nitish Kumar. It was extremely unfortunate that he humiliated former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi who belongs to the Dalit community just a few days after he insulted women in both Houses of Bihar assembly. It is clear that he needs a medical examination,” Samrat Choudhary, BJP’s state president said.

“Nitish Kumar has become dangerous for the democracy of Bihar. The BJP has repeatedly urged him to take rest. Now we are facing many difficulties in Bihar because of him,” he added.
Nitish Kumar had stirred a major controversy when he used objectionable language to give birth control lessons in the assembly. Later, he was forced to apologize and take back his remarks.
Manjhi, meanwhile, also disclosed that he would meet Bihar governor Rajendra Arlekar on Saturday to apprise him of the “grim situation” prevailing in Bihar.
