In a post on X, Microsoft CTO Kevin Scott announced that Microsoft will match the compensation of OpenAI employees considering a departure from the company.
“To my partners at OpenAI: We have seen your petition and appreciate your desire potentially to join Sam Altman at Microsoft’s new AI Research Lab. Know that if needed, you have a role at Microsoft that matches your compensation and advances our collective mission,” Scott said.
The development comes soon after Microsoft Satya Nadella announced that Sam Altman and fellow co-founder Greg Brockman, who quit soon after Altman was ousted, are joining the Windows maker.
However, things took a slight turn, and Nadella hinted in an interview that Altman’s comeback at OpenAI was on the cards. Reportedly, negotiations are still on as over 500 employees wrote a letter to the board asking it to bring back Altman.
Salesforce CEO’s job offer
About a day ago, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said in a post on X that his company is willing to hire researchers from OpenAI.
“Salesforce will match any OpenAI researcher who has tendered their resignation full cash & equity OTE to immediately join our Salesforce Einstein Trusted AI research team under Silvio Savarese,” Benioff said in a post on X.
“Send me your cv directly to ceo@salesforce.com. Einstein is the most successful enterprise AI Platform completing 1 Trillion predictive & generative transactions this week! Join our Trusted AI Enterprise Revolution,” he added.
A number of employees have politely rejected his offer saying that they would stay with Altman, Brockman and CTO Mira Murati.
