NEW DELHI: The Press Club of India (PCI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Supreme Hospital based in Faridabad to ensure adequate quality healthcare facilities can be provided to its members and staff on payment of CGHS rates.
The agreement was formalized with Gautam Lahiri, president of the Press Club of India, and Dr P S Rana, chairman of Supreme hospital signing the agreement at an event held at the Press Club of India.The event had members of the managing committee and senior journalists in attendance.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Rana expressed his pride in the collaboration, highlighting the positive impact it would have on healthcare affordability for journalists affiliated with PCI. He emphasized the importance of bringing modern medical facilities within reach for PCI members, who play a crucial role in disseminating information to the public.
President Lahiri acknowledged that many PCI members, particularly those not accredited to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), faced challenges in accessing central government health scheme (CGHS) facilities. The MoU with Supreme Hospital is set to bridge this gap by providing healthcare and treatment at CGHS rates, ensuring that journalists can avail quality medical services.
Sharing additional details about the partnership, PCI secretary general Neeraj Thakur revealed that Supreme Hospital would extend its services to cover outpatient and in-patient treatments for the family members of PCI associates and club employees. Thakur highlighted a similar agreement with NOIDA-based Felix Hospital, reinforcing the commitment to making medical care accessible for PCI members.
Supreme Hospital would further contribute to the well-being of PCI members by organizing free health check-up camps at the Press Club to promote preventive healthcare practices.
