Racing Edition: Honor X40 GT Racing Edition to launch in China on September 21

Chinese smartphone maker Honor launched the X40 GT smartphone in October 2022 in its domestic market. This mid-range smartphone features a 144Hz display, Snapdragon 888 chipset and a 50MP main camera. Honor X40 GT is available in China in three different colours. Now, the company is set to launch a new Racing Editionof the smartphone on September 21.The company has shared posters of theHonor X40 GT Racing Edition on the Chinese social media platform Weibo which confirms the upcoming smartphone’s two versions.
As per the post, both models will have vertical stripes that will span the length of the back panel like the standard model’s Racing Black variant. However, the “Matrix AI Vision Camera” text will be placed on the stripe and not around the camera island. The company has yet to outline the details of the hardware differences between the standard X40 GT and the Racing Edition.
Meanwhile, the Racing Edition has already been listed on the Chinese online retail platform JD.com. The listing suggests that the Racing Edition will come with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage onboard. To compare, the regular models come in two memory options – 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB. The full specs, price and availability details of the special edition smartphones are expected to be revealed at the launch date.
Honor X40 GT Racing Edition: Expected specs
Apart from the RAM and the storage variants, the rest of the specs of the Honor X40 GT Racing Edition are expected to be the same as the regular models. The upcoming smartphone is likely to sport a 6.81-inch LCD panel that may support a 144Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution.

Just like the regular models, the Racing Edition version is also expected to come powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset and may run Magic UI 6.1 based on Android 12 out-of-the-box.

For photography, the Honor X40 GT Racing Edition may also house a triple rear camera setup that may include a 50MP primary unit, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The smartphone may also feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 16MP front snapper for selfies and video calls.
Honor X40 GT Racing Edition is likely to pack a 4,800 mAh battery that may support 66W fast charging.
