In the first phase, 40 lakh smartphones valued at Rs 6,800 each will be distributed to the beneficiaries, including 1.9 lakh women in Jaipur, through special camps across the state.
Sources said initially, mobile phones from two companies, Realmi and Redmi, will be made available under the scheme. Later, phones of companies like Samsung and Nokia will also be available.
“Rs 6,125 will be given for the phone and Rs 675 for free internet. The state will also pay Rs 900 per year for internet charges,” said a source. The beneficiaries will have to bring their Jan Aadhar card, pan card and enrolment card, while widows will require to show their PPE card, too.
