Patil’s suspension is likely to be revoked so that she makes it to the House during the discussion on the Delhi Services Bill. Sources said the government has agreed to revoke her suspension after the opposition leaders pleaded her case to the chairperson on Friday.
However, AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s suspension is unlikely to be revoked, it is learnt. Singh was suspended for the rest of the monsoon session on July 24, after he repeatedly violated the directives of the chair while protesting on the Manipur issue along with other opposition MPs.
Patil was suspended from the Rajya Sabha during the budget session for videographing proceedings of the House, leading to its widespread dissemination on social media platforms. The disciplinary action was recommended by RS chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar in view of a complaint made by BJP about a video posted on Twitter showing the opposition agitation during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply on the Motion of Thanks in the Upper House.
