Reels: Instagram expands Close Friends feature to Reels and posts

[ad_1]

Instagram has started rolling out a new feature that grants users more control over who can see their Reels and posts. Starting today, Instagram users can now limit the visibility of their Reels and posts to Close Friends.
Until now, the Close Friends feature was available only for Storiesand Notes. Going forward, users will be able to do the same for Reels and regular posts as well. This will allow them to share things on the platform with a relatively closer or rather trusted audience than every follower they have.
Instagram has mentioned this new feature as a “pressure-free space to connect with the people that matter most.” It will offer users “more ways to be your most authentic self on Instagram while having more choices over who sees your content,” says the developer.
How to check if the feature is available for your account
Sharing posts and Reels with Close Friends is as simple as sharing Stories and notes with the group. All users need to do is create a new post or reel. Then hit the Audience button and choose Close Friends options. Once selected, they can hit the Share button.
How to know if a post has been shared with Close Friends only
Like Stories, users will see the Green star at the top of it. If you see the same on Instagram posts, you should know that the post has been shared with only select people.
The catch here is that the Close Friends list will be the same for all. Meaning, there is no way to create separate lists for different purposes. Meaning, the list will be common whether you are using the Close Friends feature in Stores, Reels or posts.
