The ADSJ Dr Chander Hass imposed a fine of Rs 10,500 on the convict saint, identified as Sonu. The accused is a permanent resident of Dhani Gopal in Fatehabad district and was a head of an ashram in Jind district.He was ordered to face two years extra in jail in case of default.
Reportedly, a woman had approached Narwana sadar police on October 27, 2022 alleging that the saint had sexually assaulted her nephew.
“When I visited my brother’s house, my minor nephew developed a pain. When I asked him, he revealed the truth that the saint has sexually assaulted him for three times. Thereafter, I decided to approach police”, she alleged.
Sadar police had lodged an FIR against the accused under Section 377 (unnatural sex) 506 (criminal intimidation) and protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) (6). The matter was under trial in the court of Dr Chander Hass who sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment on Monday.
Moreover, the ADSJ ordered to provide a relief of Rs 4 lakh to the victim through district legal services authority (DLSA). Rs 9,500 should be paid from the amount of fine imposed on the convict, read the court order.
