NEW DELHI: The Indian tennis duo Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan secured a silver medal in the men’s doubles final at the ongoing Asian Games.
Facing off against the formidable Chinese Taipei pair of Yu-hsiou Hsu and Jason Jung, Myneni and Ramanathan put up a fierce fight. However, they ultimately conceded victory with a score of 4-6, 4-6, clinching a well-deserved silver medal.

This achievement marks India’s first medal in tennis at the Hangzhou Asian Games, and it’s a testament to the dedication and prowess of the Indian tennis contingent.

Myneni and Ramanathan’s journey to the final saw them overcome the South Korean duo of Soonwoo Kwon and Seongchan Hong in the semifinals. They secured a decisive victory with a score of 6-1, 7-6, 10-0.
Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles event, the Indian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale also made their mark. They ensured at least a bronze medal by defeating the Kazakhstan duo of Zhibek Kulambayeva and Grigoriy Lomakin in straight sets, with a score of 7-5, 6-3. The first set of the match witnessed a tough battle, with Grigoriy and Zhibek putting up a strong challenge.
As the Asian Games in Hangzhou continue, India’s medal count continues to rise, with an impressive total of 28 medals. Among these, there are seven gold, ten silver, and 11 bronze medals, showcasing the nation’s prowess across various sporting disciplines.
