THANE: Naupada police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have registered a case against Sambhaji Bhide aka Bhide Guruji, allegedly for making offensive comments on Mahatma Gandhi by questioning his lineage.
Bhide has been booked under sections 153A , 505 and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code.
The complainant in the case is NCP leader Jitendra Awhad.
It was on July 27, Bhide at a function at the Badnera in the Amravati district had claimed that Gandhi was brought up in a Muslim landlord’s home and that the landlord was his real father.
Awhad alleged that such comments can create rift between the communities and hence registered a case.
