Up until now, Samsung’s own web browser — Internet — was limited to smartphones and tablets. It’s based on Google’s open-source platform Chromium and offers a range of built-in features including anti-tracking, advanced security, ad blocker and more. Samsung has now announced the web browser for the Windows operating system.
Samsung Internet browser is now available for Windows 10 and Windows 11
Samsung has launched the web browser on Microsoft Store and is available for download on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.Like the mobile version, the browser is available to download on all Windows PCs and not just the Galaxy Book devices.
The news may have come as a surprise to many, but Samsung has been working on the desktop version of the browser for a long time. This also solves the biggest problem Samsung Internet users face with the browser — not being able to sync their data, browsing history, etc on desktop and it prevents them from making it the go-to browser everywhere.
That said, the browser still does not offer a full-fledged sync solution. Currently, it allows users to log in using Samsung account and only browsing history, bookmarks and saved pages along with open tabs get synced. Passwords, addresses, etc still don’t get synced.
Apart from that, the browser is also equipped with a feature that lets users import history, bookmarks and other data from other browsers like Chrome, Edge, etc.
Samsung Internet on Windows: Features
The feature list of the Samsung Internet browser includes ad blocker support, password-protected incognito mode, extension support, light and dark themes and more. We expect that it will also support Chrome’s and Edge’s extensions as well considering it is after all a Chromium browser.
