LUCKNOW: BJP national general secretary, Sunil Bansal, said on Friday that his party will come up with a “special plan” for the 14 Lok Sabha seats they were unable to win in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Bansal made this announcement while reviewing the BJP’s election preparations in the Mainpuri, Ambedkarnagar, Shrawasti, Lalganj, and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituencies. Rae Bareli is currently represented by senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s wife, Dimple Yadav, is the MP from Mainpuri. Similarly, Shrawasti, Lalganj, and Ambedkarnagar are held by the BSP.
Former UP BJP general secretary (organisation), Bansal, played a pivotal role as one of the key poll strategists for the saffron outfit that achieved a significant victory in the 2017 assembly elections. He is currently responsible for Telangana, Odisha, and West Bengal and also oversees the Lok Sabha seats in UP that the BJP failed to win in 2019.
“Work has to be done by making strategy at the booth level. More and more people need to be covered under PM Vishwakarma Yojana and Ayushman scheme (envisaging free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh).” He made these remarks during a meeting chaired by UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary and attended by state general secretary (organization) Dharam Pal Singh, as well as several other senior leaders.
The meeting also included BJP Vistaraks (full-time BJP workers deployed to provide independent feedback).
Bansal categorically underscored the need of taking government policies to the grass root level by establishing contact and communication with youth, farmers, women and beneficiaries at the booth level. He said that “micromanagement” and “teamwork at the booth level” will hold the key for BJP to achieve the target of winning all 80 Lok Sabha in UP. He also stressed on the importance of establishing communication with senior party workers.
Chaudhary pointed out that despite the opposition (SP, BSP, and RLD) forming an alliance, the BJP managed to secure over 50% of the votes in 2019. He maintained that the political environment was favorable for the BJP under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. He also stated that the BJP had fulfilled all the promises made to the people in its election manifestos, saying, “BJP does what it says, and this mindset makes the party omnipresent.”
Dharampal Singh said that a strong booth structure was the key `mantra’ that will bring victory for the BJP in 2024. He stressed the importance of contact, communication and coordination for successful implementation of action plans.
Singh said that ‘Booth Sashaktikaran Abhiyan’ is preparing a blueprint for a definite victory in 2024. He said that programmes will be organised at the booth level on the birth anniversary of Jan Sangh leader Deen Dayal Upadhyay on September 25.
