BHOPAL: Now able to catch his breath and do some stock-taking after the most intense in two decades, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhanfeels confident that BJP will form the next government.
“We will get a comfortable majority,” he told journalists at an informal get-together at CM House on Monday. “I’d rather not give any numbers, but I am confident we will win comfortably,” he added.
Acknowledging that it was a very tough election, Chouhan said: “This is the hardest I have campaigned.During the long and extensive campaign, I felt the people’s love for me. That’s my biggest achievement. I have people’s love and trust. Nothing can be bigger than that,” he said.
The Ladli Behna Yojana is the game-changer, he believes. “It has given women respect in the family. Everywhere I went, women came forward to say how it has changed their lives. I was overwhelmed by their love.”
He gave instances of how at a rally, a woman came running after his convoy to say she had started a small eatery shop with the Ladli Behna allowance, and at another, a woman said she had bought a second-hand sewing machine. “It helped women augment their family income. What can be more satisfying to me than this?” the CM said.
Chouhan said that his legacy is how he transformed a Bimaru BIMARU Madhya Pradesh into a ‘bemisaal one’. “I decided on three things: irrigation, power and roads.
