Lidiane Jones, the current CEO of Salesforce’s cloud-based messaging platform Slackwill succeed Herd. The succession will be completed on January 2, 2024.
What Bumble CEO said on stepping down
In the release, Herd said: “It’s a monumental moment, one that has taken a great deal of time, consideration and care, for me to pass the baton to a leader and a woman I deeply respect.” Meanwhile, Herd will take on a new role as executive chair when Jones takes over as CEO.
How Lidiane Jones can be ‘good news’ for Bumble
After holding other executive roles at Salesforce and spending more than a decade at Microsoft, Slack appointed Jones as the company’s CEO earlier this year.
Commenting on the latest announcement, Jones said she has “long admired” Bumble’s mission and is looking forward to driving “long-term, sustainable growth” at the company.
She also added being “grateful to have the support of my colleagues at
Slack and Salesforce.” Jones will remain at Slack until the end of the year. A spokesperson also noted that the company will announce a new chief of Slack on November 13.
In an interview with CNBC, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said Jones’ new role is a “hugely-deserved achievement.”
Benioff noted: “While we will all of course miss her greatly (especially me), we recognise what an amazing opportunity this is for Lidiane in becoming a public company CEO. And all the more so at Bumble, a truly great company, with great values that we admire dearly.”
