NEW DELHI: Indian women’s cricket team opener Shafali Verma on Saturday shared her disappointment over a ‘denied entry’ by airline while travelling from Delhi to Varanasi.

The 19-year-old in a social media post shared that she arrived 25 minutes before the departure time but was not allowed to board the flight. Along with that Shafali also mentioned that the airline staff also did not treat her well.
“Delhi to Varanasi: I came 25 mins before the departure time and we requested a lot, still I was denied entry. The staff’s behaviour was very rude. #indigo this wasn’t a good experience,” Shafali wrote.

However, there were mixed reactions on social media over the controversy as users pointed out that Shafali was late and the airline only followed the rules.
“Boarding starts 25 mins before departure. U were late & @IndiGo6E just followed the rules,” a user wrote.
“If you were on the plane and someone else came in late and caused a delayed departure then you would’ve still complained about indigo for their lack of punctuality. Learn to respect everyone’s time,” wrote another user.
“Their staff is like that only at all airports. They need to learn customer service and support. The way the behaves like govt bank employees in 90s,” replied another user.
“I hope you understand that airlines also has to put your luggage into the luggage compartment and prep the plane for takeoff. Also plane has to pushback, taxi and reach the threshold of runway at departure time. 25 mins is not enough. That’s why common people reach 2 hours before,” wrote another user.
