NEW DELHI: Israel President Isaac Herzog revealed a booklet which he claimed was found on the body of a Hamas terrorist and contained detailed tactics on how to carry out the kidnapping.
In an interview with CNN, the Israeli President showed the booklet titled — “The Warrior’s Guide: Jihadi Version”.
“This booklet is an operating manual, how to enter citizens’ yards, kibbutz, city, moshav, how to break in there. And first – and what do you do when you find the citizens? You torture them. This is the booklet that says exactly how to torture them, how to kidnap them,” Herzog told CNN.
In an eight-page instructional guide, kidnappers are advised to employ captives as human shields in the event of an attack, without regard to their religion, race, or gender. The guide suggests that hostages should be eliminated when deemed necessary, particularly if there are signs of resistance among them. Terrorists are also encouraged to document their actions in real time.
Notably, many terrorists equipped themselves with GoPro cameras to record their activities on the October 7 attack.
The manual also outlines various tactics to establish control over captured territory, including suicide bombings, car bombings, ambushes, and sniper attacks. It provides instructions for seizing the identification documents of captives and recording their personal information.
Additionally, the manual includes a detailed chart illustrating the hierarchical structure of the Israel Defense Force (IDF), along with comprehensive information about their armaments and electronic assets.
“It’s simply an ideology from ISIS that calls for Israel to be wiped off the face of the earth, and therefore Hamas must be wiped off the face of the earth,” Herzog said.
“The story is not Israel versus the Palestinians or Judaism versus Islam. The story is about where humanity should stand, are we with the good or the evil. The campaign we are waging now, as a nation rising like a lion, is against evil, and we will uproot evil so that it will be better for the whole region and the world,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military raised the figure to 199 people confirmed to have been abducted by Hamas to the Gaza Strip in the militants’ cross-border attacks which sparked a devastating war.
Israel declared war on the Islamist group a day after waves of its fighters broke through the heavily fortified border on October 7, shooting, stabbing and burning to death more than 1,400 people, most of them civilians.
Israel then unleashed a relentless bombing campaign on Gaza that has flattened neighbourhoods and left at least 2,670 people dead in the territory, mainly civilians.
