“I welcome all of you (athletes) on behalf of 140 crore Indians. Because of your hard work and achievements, there is an atmosphere of celebration across the country,” PM Modi said during an interaction.
PM also expressed satisfaction that India as a sporting nation is on the right path.
“India’s medal tally in this Asian Games is an indication of country’s success. It is India’s best performance in Asian Games till date, and personally I am satisfied that we are moving on the right track.
The whole country is feeling proud of your (athletes) performance in the Asian Games. I also thank the trainers and coaches of the athletes on behalf of the nation,” Modi said.
The programme was initiated by the Prime Minister to extend congratulations to the athletes for their remarkable accomplishments at the Asian Games and to provide them with motivation for upcoming competitions.
India’s stellar performance at the Asian Games, where they secured a grand total of 107 medals, including an impressive haul of 28 gold medals, represents a historic achievement.
In terms of the sheer number of medals earned, this marks India’s most successful performance in the history of the Asian Games.
The event brought together the athletes from the Indian contingent who participated in the Asian Games, their dedicated coaches, officials from the Indian Olympic Association, representatives from National Sports Federations, and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
