PATNA: Pandal hopping turned tragic after three people, including a six-year-old child, died in a stampede in one of the pandals in Gopalganj district of Bihar on Monday night.
The incident occurred around 9:30 pm in a pandal on Cheeni Mil Road. Sources said a huge crowd had gathered at this pandal, which went out of control and led to a stampede. While three people died, over a dozen were injured. Gopalganj district magistrate Nawal Kishor Choudhary confirmed the incident.
Choudhary said the incident occurred after the child fell, and two elderly women tried to pick him up. All three could not get up. Choudhary further stated that while the hospital was hardly 200 meters away and all three of them were immediately rushed, they could not survive.
