Virat Kohli was summoned to the bowling crease for the first time in an ODI after six years, when he completed the unfinished over of Hardik Pandya in India’s ICC World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday.
INDIA VS BANGLADESH: LIVE UPDATES
The last time Kohli came on to bowl in an ODI was against Sri Lanka in Colombo back in August 2017.
Hardik Pandya pulled up while bowling the 9th over of Bangladesh innings with pain in his left leg, which was then taped by the physio. But the all-rounder couldn’t continue and Kohli was called upon to bowl the last three deliveries of the over.

In terms of ODI World Cups, it was the fourth time Kohli was seen rolling his arm over, having done that previously against Austrlaia and Sri Lanka in the 2011 World Cup and against Australia in the 2015 edition.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first, led by stand-in skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto.
The regular Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the match with a quad injury.
