The video includes Pakistan’s cricket legends and their contribution to the sport, besides the country’s landmark moments in the sport since its international debut in 1952. The initial video, which was released on Monday, did not mention Imran, which led to a lot of anger among the cricket fraternity and the fans in Pakistan.
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram, who was also part of 1992 World Cup-winning team led by Imran, asked the PCB to “delete the video and apologise,” while many believed the move was politically driven. Imran, who is also the former Prime Minister of the country, was recently sentenced to three years in jail for corruption during his tenure as the country’s head.
But as the controversy and anger around the video tribute refused to die, the PCB was forced to re-release the video, which now features Imran’s contribution as well.
