NEW DELHI: As an all-round Team India marched into their fourth ODI World Cup final with New Zealand thrashing in the first semi-final in Mumbai on Wednesday, the elated dressing room continued with their tradition of giving a medal to the ‘fielder of the match’ after the game.
Courtesy some stupendous efforts on the field alongside Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer tons and a Mohammed Shami seven-for, India avenged their 2019 heartbreak against the Black Caps at the Wankhede Stadium.
Chasing a steep 398 for win, as the Kiwis folded for 327, fielders once again rose to the occasion with some incredible all-round efforts.
With Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul among the nominees from the New Zealand game, Jadeja deservingly got the award for taking three key catches and being a live wire on the field.

“Cheeteh ki chaal, Baaz ki nazar aur Royal Navghan ki fielding se koi nahi bach sakta hai. Kabhi bhi medal le sakte hain,” said teammate Suryakumar Yadav while presenting the medal to Jadeja.
There had been a dash of creativity when fielding coach T Dilip announced the ‘fielder of the match’ awards in the past but this time around things were kept simple by the support staff in the dressing room.
