The left-arm spinner Jadeja triggered the middle-order collapse with three quick wickets to leave Australia in tatters.
Jadeja first produced a peach of a delivery to knock over former Aussie skipper Steve Smith. The ball just turned enough to beat the edge and Smith nodded his head in disappointment.
Marnus Labuschagne was the next victim of Jadeja’s fiery spell with the batter being caught behind the wickets by KL Rahul. He got low for a sweep shot but failed to time it perfectly and the ball took a faint edge.
Two balls later Jadeja added further misery to Australia woes with his third wicket as he trapped Alex Carey in front for a duck.
Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik rightly predicted before the match about the impact Jadeja is going to have.
“This pitch will turn. Jadeja to have a super day today,” Karthik posted on X.
