NEW DELHI: As Sachin Tendulkar and David Beckham walked onto the ground amidst loud cheers before India’s World Cup semifinal against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, a football came rolling towards the soccer legend kicked by none other than Virat Kohli.
Tendulkar and Beckham are in attendance for the match as UNICEF brand ambassadors and also interacted with members of the Indian cricket team on the ground.The convergence of iconic figures from cricket and football added an extra layer of glamour to the semifinal.
Beckham shared a clip on his Instagram story that showed Kohli first rolling the soccer ball towards the former England captain, much to the amusement of Tendulkar, who took a step backward to let Beckham kick it towards Kohli.
Kohli then again kicked the soccer ball towards Beckham who kicked it back drawing a thumbs-up from Kohli, much to the amusement and loud cheering from the jam-packed Wankhede crowd.
